Rules for the provision of hotel services

Few people know that in Russia there is a special legal act – the Government Decree, which approves the Rules for the provision of hotel services. All hotels, hotels and hostels are obliged to conduct their activities in accordance with the specified rules and strictly observe them. If, when providing services, the hotel violates these rules, the citizen may demand protection of his rights in the Federal Service or the court.

Rules for the provision of hotel services
Initially, the Rules for the provision of hotel services were adopted in 1994. Then they were replaced by the 1997 Rules. Currently, the new Rules adopted in October 2015 are in force. New rules are accepted when the old ones lose their relevance and are not able to meet the needs of the business.

In accordance with the Rules, the hotel is obliged to place information about itself: name, address, mode of operation, registration information, hotel category and rooms, which is included in the room rate and prices for additional services, as well as other information.

At the same time, hotels have the right to establish the rules for living and using services themselves, if these rules do not contradict the law.

Check-out time for all hotels – 12 hours, but it can be changed to meet local characteristics and specific activities. The time of arrival and departure sets the hotel itself, but the difference between them should not be more than 2 hours.

The hotel is obliged to provide the following services free of charge: calling special services (ambulance, police), delivery of correspondence to a room, use of a first-aid kit, needles, threads, one set of dishes and appliances, provision of boiling water, wake-up call at a certain time. Without the consent of the guest, the hotel cannot provide him with paid services that are not included in the price per room. For example, it often happens that a hotel room has a mini-bar or connected pay channels. But the guest is warned about this, and a huge bill for him becomes an unpleasant surprise.

The rules establish that the payment for hotel services is made after they have been provided, i.e., at checkout time before your departure. And only with the consent of the guest hotel may charge an advance payment.

The rules contain a number of provisions that protect guests of hotels, which every person who is going to stay in a hotel needs to know.
