How to avoid hotel troubles

Even in the most luxurious hotel you can face troubles: a broken shower or air conditioning, lack of hot or cold water, problems with the door lock and many, many others. Our article is about what troubles in the hotel are most often encountered by tourists and how to deal with them.

The first thing that can unpleasantly hit a tourist is the discrepancy between the photos of the hotel on the Internet and what he sees in reality. If your stay in the hotel is prepaid, especially for a few days in advance, then you can stay in this hotel for one night and have a little patience. Immediately cancel the booking for the following days and ask for a refund. As a rule, if you cancel a reservation at least one day, payment will be refunded in full. And immediately look for a new place to sleep. If you did not prepay the hotel, then before you cancel the reservation, check whether there are vacancies in other hotels so that you do not have to spend the night on the street because of your haste.

Tourists often have problems with the breakdown of household appliances, furniture or plumbing in the room. As soon as you find that your room has something broken, immediately contact the hotel administrator. Then he will deal with your problem: send plumber, electrician or joiner. Try to express your demands calmly and discreetly. Remember that politeness will be the best assistant for you. You should do the same if something is missing in your room (shower gel, toilet paper or soap).

It happens that it’s uncomfortable to be in a hotel room because of extraneous noise: children are crying in the next room, or the TV is loudly running, a noisy party is taking place in the neighborhood, or the market is located. First of all, you should contact the administrator with a request to transfer you to another number. If you are refused relocation, at least ask for earplugs from the hotel staff. You will not succeed in defeating the noise, but you will sleep well.

Large hotels, which value their reputation, try to solve problems as quickly as possible and with full customer care. However, small hotels and hostels that do not have any quality system, can ignore your complaints or satisfy them carelessly. In this case, you have only one way out – to resort to the law and protect your consumer rights with the help of government agencies.
